Paul stressed spiritual unity, asking the Philippians to love one another and to be one in spirit and purpose. When we do for others, when we demonstrate Christ’ s example of putting others first, then we experience unity. Paul is encouraging the church at Philippi to live in harmony and humility following the example of Christ. He said, “Be like Jesus”. Humble yourselves as he humbled himself, be a servant as he became a servant. “Have the same love. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Paul isn’t just writing to the Philippians, he’s writing to us. His message is for us too.
