Earthly fathers give us glimpses of our Heavenly Father’s divine love. Through their sacrifices, protection, guidance, laughter, and presence, they help us understand something of God’s fatherly heart. Some dads are funny. Some are thoughtful. Some are quiet. Some are larger than life. Most are a beautiful combination of strengths, imperfections, sacrifices, and unconditional love. No father is perfect. Yet every father is wonderfully and intentionally created by God. As Christians, Father’s Day also reminds us that no matter our earthly experience of fatherhood, we are never without a Father. God reveals Himself not only as Creator and King but as a loving, merciful, and tender Father who knows us completely and loves us unconditionally. My story reflects growing up in the world without my father, as my parents separated when I was young, and then they later divorced. (I believe when he wanted to remarry) Sadly, I have no memory or recollection of my father. My mother was wonderful and did the best she could playing both roles as father and mother. You know, growing up, I couldn’t understand why my father didn’t want to know me. And it wasn’t until I found Jesus in my life to understand that I had a Heavenly Father all along that watching over and with me. Now, that I am in my late 50’s I am not sure if my earthly father is even still alive or not. I pray that he is, and if he is still here, he is always welcome to find me and talk to me, as want him to know, that I do not hold anything against him. I totally forgave him for not being in my life all these years. Why? You think I would be bitter still and hold it against him. Or worse, perhaps not forgive him… Well, let me say, because as Jesus has forgiven me of my sins and wrongdoings, I can do nothing else but to forgive my biological father and invite and welcome him to reconcile the absence of time and say hello. Find out more of my story about how being a father myself, and now a grandfather has been so rewarding in my life. This podcast episode has been created to all who are fathers to the children that they bring up and hold dear. May this podcast also help those who perhaps who live a similar story. Just know that in the end, your Heavenly Father LOVES YOU and will continue to embrace you every day within your relationship with Him.
