Qadash vs. Nazir

Qadash is the Hebrew word God used when telling Israel to dedicate themselves to Him. Qadash is a setting apart or dedication TO God. Nazir is the Hebrew word for separating yourself FROM sin. This nazir concept – don’t do this, don’t touch that, etc. – does NOT connect us to a relational God whom we can love and enjoy. God wants connection, not perfection. He wants relationship, not religious activity.
