Episode #3 When Chains Are Invisible - The Sin of Slavery

Kijuan “The Psalmist” Williams

Beloved brothers and sisters, today we come together to reflect on a profound truth that transcends time and culture: not all chains are made of iron. Some are invisible yet hold the soul with an unbreakable grip. Jesus Himself declared in John 8:34, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.” When we hear the word slavery, our minds often drift to the heartbreaking history of human bondage—men and women robbed of dignity, freedom, and hope. That painful chapter is a scar in humanity’s story, a stark reminder of how sin corrupts both societies and hearts. But Christ reveals a deeper truth: slavery isn’t only external; it’s internal. Sin itself enslaves us, shackling us with invisible cords that no eye can see, yet every heart can feel.
