Freedom in Christ

Turn back with me in your mind to the day the people of Israel walked out of Egypt. For four hundred years they had been slaves. They had cried out under the whip, groaned under the weight of those bricks, and begged God for deliverance. Then, in one miraculous night, the chains came off. The Red Sea split wide open, and they walked out free men and free women onto the other shore. But here is the strange part. Just a few weeks into that freedom, when things got hard and the food got scarce, what did they say? Let's go back to Egypt. At least in Egypt we had our pots of meat. Can you imagine? They were physically free, standing in the wilderness under the open sky, yet in their hearts they were still homesick for the very slavery God had rescued them from.
