And behold, there was a great earthquake, for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat upon it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, just as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.’ So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and he said, ‘Greetings!’ And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.’” THE RESURRECTION CHANGES EVERYTHING 1 A historical seismic shift 2 A philosophical seismic shift. If the resurrection is true, everything changes If the resurrection is true, friends, death isn’t the end after all. If the resurrection is true, we are not just flesh and bone. We are souls who are destined to live forever. If the resurrection is true, we exist not by chance but because the eternally loving God has created us in His image to be enfolded in His love forever. If the resurrection is true, then life is full of rich meaning and purpose because we were made to come alive in the love of God If the resurrection is true, our sins can be forgiven. If the resurrection is true, you and I can be made new. If the resurrection is true, we have so much to live for. If the resurrection is true, we are loved, more than we know. If the resurrection is true, there is a “happily ever after” after all. a Spiritual Seismic Shift! Friends, What will we do with Jesus? Either this man was, and is, the Son of God; or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God, but let us not come with any of this patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher if Jesus’ resurrection is real, nothing else matters. Coming to Christ is Simple A – Admit! We admit that we are sinners, far from God, that we’ve made a mess of our lives and we need help. B – Believe! We believe that Jesus has done everything to make us right with God when He died in our place and rose again—His life for ours. C – Commit! We commit our lives to Him and we say, “Come, be my Savior.
