Ecclesiastes - Chasing After the Wind - Chapter 5

Ecclesiastes 5 seems like a departure. The author has continually highlighted all that is meaningless and vain. In the previous chapter, he speaks to oppression and corruption – saying it is so bad that it would be better to not be alive to see it. Chapter 5 follows all of this, and the calmness, the wisdom, the proverbial nature of it is striking. Here, the author lays out some thoughts on how to respond. He offers advice. Having acknowledged that so much is broken and seemingly beyond repair, “What is crooked cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted” (Eccl. 1:15). He speaks now to making the most of what we have – doing what we can, what is actually meaningful – a life with God. Join us, as we continue our study of Ecclesiastes this week! -Pastor Nate Roschen
