Why Your Body Matters Forever | Anderson, SC Worship
April 08, 2026
Fr. Jon Aamodt
The Altar Church is a Spirit-filled, Missional, and Sacramental worship community in Anderson, SC, rooted in the Anglican tradition but designed for a restless generation. Are our bodies just "glad bags" for our spirits? Think again! In this week's message, Fr. Jon dives into the surprising (and physical!) implications of the Resurrection of Jesus. We aren't just waiting to float away as spirits—God designed you as a material-spiritual entity, and He has a plan to raise and glorify your body. From how we worship to how we treat our physical selves today, the Resurrection changes everything.
Episode Notes
Many Christians grow up believing that
their physical bodies are disposable containers that will eventually be traded
in for a completely "new" model. But what if the Resurrection of
Jesus implies something far more profound? In this episode, Fr. Jon explores
the biblical and early church teaching that our bodies are an essential part of our
spirituality. We discuss the rejection of modern Gnosticism, the importance of
ritual and sacrament, and how the future hope of a physical resurrection dictates
our ethical choices today.
