We live in a culture saturated with toxic positivity and comfortable white lies that constantly tell us we are perfect just the way we are. But what if that script is actually keeping us from the very rescue we need? In this episode of The Altar Church Podcast, Father Jon dives into John 3:13–17 to unpack the raw, unfiltered reality of the Gospel.
Jesus didn’t come as a lifestyle coach to boost our self-esteem or validate our choices; He came because humanity is facing a critical emergency. Drawing on the high-stakes reality of a modern family intervention, this sermon strips away cultural platitudes to reveal the historic, uncompromised truth: we are broken by sin, helpless to save ourselves, and desperately in need of a divine rescue mission. If you are tired of shallow, sanitized faith and are craving a truth with teeth, this wake-up call is for you.
The Altar Church is a Spirit-filled, Missional, and Sacramental worship community in Anderson, SC, rooted in the Anglican tradition but designed for a restless generation.
