Your Relationship with You
Genesis 32:28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob,
but Israel, because you have struggled struggled with God and with
humans and you have overcome.
THREE QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF
1. Where am I?
Genesis 3:9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are
you?”
● Honesty and truth are the only way forward.
Genesis 3:10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I
was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”
● Honesty leads to healing.
James 5:13-14 Is any one of you in trouble? Let him pray. Is anyone
happy? Let them sing songs of praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick?
Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them
with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord
will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
● How honest am I being with the most important people in my life?
● How isolated do I feel?
● How much pleasure do I feel in my relationship with God?
● How tempted am I?
James 1:13-14 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.”
For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each
person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and
enticed.
2. Have I prayed about it?
Philippians 4:6 Don’t worry about anything; Instead, pray about
everything.
● Prayer is the antithesis of worry. Worry is prayer and worship in
reverse.
”Anxiety is my reminder that it is time to pray.” - Craig Groeschell
Philippians 4:6-7 …Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has
done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything
we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live
in Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 Three times I begged the Lord to take it away.
9 Each time he said, My grace is all you need.
● Prayer is the grace of your life. If you refuse to pray, don’t be
surprised when everything else seems hard.
Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you.
3. Have I forgiven?
Hebrews 12:14-15 Strive for peace with everyone, and for holiness for
without which no one will see the Lord.
15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of
bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled.
Matthew 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our
debtors.
● There’s nothing that has been done to me in my past that is worth my
future.
1 John 1:7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we
have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses
us from all sin.
Question: Can you imagine how different your relationships and your
future relationships would be if YOU got healthy?
