When God is in The House
Three Categories of People Here Today:
1. You’re passionately in love with God
2. You don’t know what you’re missing
3. You have walked away from God
2 Samuel 6:1-2 David again brought together out of Israel chosen
men, thirty thousand in all. 2 He and all his men set out from … Judah
to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name,
the name of the LORD Almighty…
Acts 4:12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other
name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Every soul matters to God.
3 They set the ark of God on a new cart and brought it from the house
of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, sons of
Abinadab, were guiding the new cart 4 with the ark of God on it, and
Ahio was walking in front of it.
Every time you knowingly violate a command of God, trouble is on the
way.
Where the presence of God is, there is joy.
5 David and the whole house of Israel were celebrating with all their
might before the LORD, with songs and with harps, lyres,
tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.
6 When they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah reached out
and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 7 The
LORD’S anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act;
therefore God struck him down and he died there beside the ark of
God.
Hebrews12:10 Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they
thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share
in his holiness. 11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful.
Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace
for those who have been trained by it.
8 Then David was angry because the LORD’S wrath had broken out
against Uzzah,
… to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. 9 David was afraid of
the LORD that day and said, “How can the ark of the LORD ever
come to me?” 10 He was not willing to take the ark of the LORD to be
with him in the City of David.
Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
Lesson: Don’t let FEAR keep you from God’s presence.
…Instead, he took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
11 The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the
Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed him and his entire
household.
When God is in the house; blessings follow.
Problem: We no longer equate our blessings with His presence.
12 King David was told, “The LORD has blessed the household of
Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the ark of God.”
When someone is getting blessed, people notice.
12… So, David went down and brought up the ark of God from the
house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing.
We are blessing chasers instead of presence inviters.
12… So, David went down and brought up the ark of God from the
house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with rejoicing.
When you realize the blessings, you will overcome your fear.
