Healing the Father Wound
Matthew 3:16-17 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up
from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw
the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17
and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son with
“I was 25 years old before I could say the word ‘father’ while praying,
because of the kind of relationship—or lack thereof—that I had with my
dad. It didn’t roll off my tongue the way it did for many of my Christian
friends... How could I come to God without fear when I had been scared to
go home whenever Dad was there? How could I understand God’s love
and faithfulness when Dad left town because he loved something, or
someone, more than me? How can God be a mighty fortress of protection
when Dad hit instead of hugged?” – Johnathan Edwards
John 17:6 (NKJV) “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You
gave Me out of the world. Yours they were, and You gave them to Me, and
they have kept Your word.”
John 17:26: “And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it,
that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
Romans 8:15 (ESV) For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back
into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom
we cry, “Abba! Father!”
● What you need from God, you can ONLY GET FROM GOD.
Ephesians 1:4 even as he chose us IN HIM before the foundation of the
world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love

Romans 8:29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be
conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn
among many brothers.
● Our voice of APPROVAL comes from HEAVEN and not from earth.

THREE TRUTHS TO REMIND YOURSELF OF:
1. I’m a child of God by BIRTH not by WORTH.
Matthew 3:17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my
beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.”
Matthew 7:11If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts
to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven
give good things to those who ask him!

2. My Father LOVES ME.
1 John 4:17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have
confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we
in this world.

3. My Father LIKES ME.
The phrase “well pleased” in the Bible means to take deep delight, full
approval, or great satisfaction in someone or something; favorably
inclined, decided, content
Isaiah 43:4 Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love
you...

Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have
no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will
not forget you.”
Psalm 139:6-11 O LORD, you have searched me and known me!... You
formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I
praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your
works; my soul knows it very well. Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed
for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Ezekiel 49:35 The Lord Is THERE.
Hebrews 13:5 I will NEVER leave you or forsake you.
