Rev, and Raver Mom
AUDIO
In this reflective and engaging episode, Rev is joined by co-host Raver Mom as they explore how anime reveals the heart of its creators—and how that echoes a deeper spiritual truth. Drawing from Isaiah 64:8, which describes God as the potter and us as the clay, they discuss how anime becomes a canvas for personal expression, emotion, and belief.
From Hideaki Anno’s battle with depression in Neon Genesis Evangelion, to Hayao Miyazaki’s love for nature in Princess Mononoke, to Akira Toriyama’s humor and adventurous spirit in Dragon Ball, and Ichiro Oda’s passion for freedom and friendship in One Piece—Rev and Raver Mom unpack how each creator leaves their fingerprints on their work. They also dive into the unique styles of Satoshi Kon and Makoto Shinkai, whose storytelling reflects deep personal themes of thought, love, and connection.
Whether you're into anime, theology, or both, this episode invites you to look beyond the screen and see the creator in the creation—both human and divine.
