What if communion was never meant to be a routine, but rather one of the most layered and transformative moments in our faith? This message takes us on a journey through six distinct themes embedded in the Lord's Supper, themes that stretch from the earliest pages of Genesis all the way to the final feast described in Revelation. We explore how the Passover lamb, Abraham's near-sacrifice of Isaac, and the suffering servant of Isaiah 53 all point forward to the same moment Jesus instituted at the table. The central scriptures in Luke 22 and 1 Corinthians 11 anchor us in the reality that when Jesus broke bread and lifted the cup, he was not beginning something new out of nowhere. He was fulfilling a thread woven through the entire story of Scripture. Every time we come to the table, we are stepping into that story ourselves, not as passive observers but as participants in a covenant sealed with his blood. This is an invitation to see communion not as a formality we observe, but as a living encounter with the depth of what Christ has done for us.
