Paul referred to the battle that takes place in your heart and mind. He told the Romans: For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. (Romans 7:22-23, NIV) In these verses, Paul was speaking of the carnal desires of the flesh, which war against the mind and try to make it a slave to the sins of the old carnal nature. Paul continues by explaining that through Christ, you have been set free from this old nature with its sinful desires, thoughts, and attitudes.
