John 18:1-11 marks the dramatic turning point where Jesus' public ministry ends and his passion week begins. In this passage, Jesus crosses the Kidron Valley to a garden with his disciples, where Judas arrives with Roman soldiers and temple guards to arrest him. Instead of a helpless victim, Jesus is portrayed as a calm, sovereign leader who is completely in control of his own destiny.
