Coming Home: Welcoming The God Who Draws Near

Introductory sermon for the series. We think we know just what the Bible says, but then it turns out to be full of surprises. Take, for instance, the commonly held understanding that the basic story is: we were bound for hell until Jesus stepped in to save us and take us to heaven, if we follow him. But what if God's plan is so much more multifaceted than that? Less commonly emphasized major biblical themes suggest that God is determined to bring heaven and earth together. We'll spend the next 10(!) weeks exploring the idea that God's plan is to bring heaven home to earth and our job is to welcome God where we live.
