Jesus ask Peter to feed his sheep speaking of all believers who would come to accept Jesus as savior. In 1 Peter 1:4-12 we are introduce to the fast that as Christians we have and inheritance that comes to us in this life as love, grace and mercy from God and in the life to come in living in his presence with Jesus in the New Jerusalem to come.
