Episode Notes

1 Clement 44:4 (AD 95-98) "For our sin is not small, if we eject from the episcopate those who have blamelessly …offered its sacrifices/gifts

Didache 14:1 AD 70-100: "On the Lord's Day gather together, break bread and offer the Eucharist, having first confessed your offenses, so that your sacrifice may be pure."

Mal 1:11 prophecy. Didache 14:3. Christian Eucharist fulfills→ "For this is that which was said by the Lord: 'In every place and time offer to me a pure sacrifice; for I am a great King,' says the Lord, 'and my name is wonderful among the Gentiles.'"

St. Ignatius of Antioch (c. AD 110). "Make certain, therefore, that you all observe one common Eucharist; for there is but one Body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and but one cup of union with his Blood, and one single altar of sacrifice..." (Letter to the Philadelphians 4)

St. Justin Martyr (c. AD 155): Confirmed the Didache's use of Malachi 1:11 prophecy: That the bread and cup of the Eucharist is the predicted “pure offering”/sacrifice. (Dialogue with Trypho 41).

St. Irenaeus (c. AD 180): Explicitly taught that the bread and wine, after consecration, become Christ's Body and Blood.  Also, " Now these are what the Church offers throughout all the world to God… giving Him thanks in all things through Christ Jesus — the pure sacrifice which is offered to God in every place." (Against Heresies 4:17:5).
