The Authority Of Peter's Followers.
Episode Notes
Can we pray for angels to help us? Absolutely, through the same authority Christ gave.
Here is something else God gave me about Peter’s prison moment. Who was there when Jesus taught about calling legions of angels? "don't you think my Father would send legions of angels?" Peter, James, and John. Now the was the whole 11 and then Judas there including Judas. However, Peter, John, and James went with Him almost everywhere. Peter was there…
Remind people what I told you. “That Peter needed to see it…”
Peter's disciples knew how to pray in authority.
Then He took Peter, James, and John a little farther into the garden (Matthew 26:37).
Matthew 26:53-54 NKJV
[53] Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? [54] How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?”
I was listening to a prayer meeting where someone mentioned the president and leaders. His following statement made me meditate on scripture. He said, “Non of us have that authority.” Our beliefs do matter…. God does not want us to believe we belong in the mud. He wants us to believe we belong with Him, seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus as follow heirs--Children of God.
Acts 12:4 (NKJV) So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.
Satan will try to make an example out of Christians…to strike fear in others and blah
Acts 12:5 (NKJV) Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.
Acts 12:6 (NKJV) And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.
Acts 12:7 (NKJV)Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off his hands.
Requesting Heavenly Intervention Matthew 26:53 During His arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus states, "Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?"2.
Angels as Servants and Protectors Matthew 18:10While teaching about the value of children, Jesus warns against despising "one of these little ones," stating that their angels in heaven continually see the face of God.
Luke 22:43During His agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, an angel from heaven appeared to Jesus to strengthen Him.
John 1:50-51 ESV
[50] Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” [51] And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
I was laughing, revelation Remember what's Jesus said? I have given them your name. I have given them your true image.

Who do you say I am… Compare this with the group that saw Jesus from afar but didn't know. They were comparing Jesus with other men.
Peter knew who he was and preach with power.
They answer:
“Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Then Jesus asks:
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter responds:
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
1. “Name” means identity, authority, and nature
In Hebrew thought, a name isn’t just a label — it’s the character, authority, and essence of the person.
Jesus is saying:
- I revealed who You truly are
- I showed them Your heart
- I carried Your authority
- I represented You perfectly
2. Jesus gave them access to the Father
Before Jesus, no one called God “Father” the way He did.
Jesus brought them into that relationship.
Jesus brought them into that relationship.
3. Jesus protected them under the Father’s authority
When He says He “kept them in Your name,” He means:
- I guarded them
- I covered them
- I preserved them under Your authority
4. This is covenant language
Jesus is transferring the Father’s identity and authority to His disciples so they can continue His mission after He returns to the Father.
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
Matthew 16:14 (NKJV)
So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Matthew 16:15 (NKJV)
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Matthew 16:16 (NKJV)
Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Matthew 16:17 (NKJV)
Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
