Practice What You Believe

Have you ever struggled to describe God's love? The Apostle John reminds us that while we can describe creation's beauty, God's love through salvation leaves us breathless. This isn't just any love—it's a love where God took all the chances, made all the sacrifices, just to call us His children. Here's the challenge: our new identity in Christ is completely incompatible with sin. True children of God don't just believe—they live transformed lives that shine His light into darkness. It's not about being perfect; it's about sinning less today than yesterday, drawing closer to Jesus with each step. What we will be has not yet appeared, but we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him. Until that glorious day, let's practice what we believe and reflect His love and righteousness to a world that desperately needs to see Jesus in us.

Episode Notes

5-Day Devotional

Day 1: The Profound Love of the Father
Reading: 1 John 3:1-3; John 1:1-4

Devotional:
Pause today and let the reality of God's love wash over you. You are called a child of God—not because of your merit, but because of His initiative, His sacrifice, His choice. This love should take your breath away. The Creator of mountains, oceans, and infinite stars calls you His own.
Yet what we experience now is only a glimpse. One day we will see Him face to face and become fully like Him. This hope should compel you to live differently today. Ask yourself: Does my life reflect the wonder of being loved by God?
Let this truth sink deep into your soul and transform how you see yourself and others.

Day 2: Purified by Hope
Reading: 1 John 3:2-3; Titus 2:11-14

Devotional:
Hope in Christ is not passive wishful thinking—it is an active, purifying force. When you truly grasp that you will one day behold Jesus and be transformed into His likeness, it changes how you live now. This hope compels you to pursue purity, not out of obligation, but out of anticipation.
Every choice to turn from sin is a step closer to reflecting His character. The world may not understand your transformation, just as it did not recognize Jesus. But you are being prepared for an eternal reality.
Today, identify one area where hope in Christ can purify your thoughts or actions. Live as someone who is becoming like Jesus.

Day 3: The Incompatibility of Sin
Reading: 1 John 3:4-6; Romans 6:1-14

Devotional:
Your new identity in Christ is completely incompatible with a lifestyle of sin. Jesus came specifically to take away sins, and in Him there is no sin. This does not mean Christians never stumble—we all make mistakes. But there is a profound difference between occasional failure and habitual rebellion. To continue deliberately sinning while claiming to know God is self-deception. Check your lifestyle honestly today.
Are you growing in righteousness, or are you comfortable with patterns of sin? The blood of Christ provides forgiveness, but His grace was costly. True gratitude shows itself in the daily effort to sin less. Surrender one persistent struggle to Him today and ask for His strength.

Day 4: Destroying the Devil's Works
Reading: 1 John 3:7-8; Acts 10:34-38

Devotional:
There are only two families in the spiritual realm: children of God and children of the devil. This stark reality demands we examine our lives. Jesus appeared to destroy the works of the devil, and as His followers, we carry the same anointing and power through the Holy Spirit.
Practicing righteousness is not about perfection but direction. Are you moving toward Christ or away from Him? The false teachers of every age offer attractive alternatives that water down the gospel's transforming power. Recognize them by their fruit—or lack thereof.
Today, take one concrete step closer to Jesus than you were yesterday. Righteousness wrapped in God's love is your family identity. Live it visibly.

Day 5: Love Proves Our Identity
Reading: 1 John 3:9-10; Matthew 7:15-20

Devotional:
The evidence of being born of God is clear: practicing righteousness and loving others. These are not cold, clinical duties but supernatural expressions of God's will working through you. God's "seed" abides in you—His divine nature has been planted within, producing fruit that reflects His character.
You cannot claim to be God's child while habitually sinning or refusing to love your brothers and sisters. Examine your life by the fruit it produces.
Are lives being changed around you? Is love flowing from you? God loved you first as an act of His will, sacrificing everything to make that love accessible. He deserves the same from you.
Today, demonstrate God's indescribable love to someone who needs it. He is glorious—let your life prove it.
